Abstract The business plan is the main tool of the entrepreneur in order to attract and convince the potential investor and the way to introduce the investor to the venture. The seminar, by Gate2Growth, an initiative supported by the EU, offering web-portal and associated services to innovative entrepreneurs and partners, approaches business planning in an integrated manner, from the theory and strategy of the business plan to advice in finding the right potential investor and preparing for the meeting as well as an introduction to the Gate2Growth services to entrepreneurs.

Abstract Effective protection of the intellectual property rights is a step of paramount importance in the process of launching an innovative venture. Not only does it provide the entrepreneur with a competitive advantage detering potential misuse but it provides a solid proof to the investor that the product is unique and worth investing in. The seminar, given by the Industrial Property Organization of Greece (OBI), aims at giving an insight into the world of the protection of intellectual property rights from the strategy, ways of obtaining information for technology evaluation purposes to the actual patent application.
