PRAXI Network is one of the most important organisations supporting innovation and technology transfer at European level, providing high value-added services to companies, institutions and organisations, both at regional and national level.
Based on its experience and expertise, PRAXI Network supports the University of Crete in the implementation of the ACES – STAR Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society (EMJMD ACES-STAR).
EMJMD ACES-STAR is a two-year study programme which takes place in three European Universities specialising in aquaculture research.
Throughout the EMJMD ACES+ programme, students have the opportunity to improve their skills as well as expand their contacts through the programme’s large network in the aquaculture industry.
These are achieved through the internship and research thesis that participants are required to complete at the end of the programme.
1st semester
Participants have the opportunity to undertake an internship at the end of the first semester, either carrying out research in Scottish Association for Marine Science laboratories or completing a short internship with one of the project partners based on the west coast of Scotland, such as Xanthella Ltd or Scottish Sea Farms
2nd semester
During the second semester, based at the University of Crete, students undertake a 6-week internship in Greece. They can work in a laboratory of the University or work in the field with companies such as the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, Selonda Aquaculture S.A. or Nireus Aquaculture.
During the fourth semester of the EMJMD ACES, all students are required to complete a research thesis. Students may conduct their research in any country in Europe, including laboratories located at SAMS-UHI, Radboud University or the Universities of Nantes and Crete, or at one of the programme partners from industry.
Some students have been installed in organisations such as ICM-CSIC in Spain, the University of Bergen, the Technical University of Denmark or the Fisheries Institute in China. This semester gives our students a valuable opportunity to pursue their research interests in a key area of the aquaculture industry, helping to enhance their remediation skills and work experience.
In additional to knowledge-based learning, the EMJM ACES STAR offers a core module validated by the University of Crete (Core module: 6 ECTS). This module aims to improve the students employability by recognising and rewarding students who participate in activities beyond their academic studies. The Professional and Entrepreneurial Skills module is specifically tailored to provide professional or ‘life’ skills training designed to support industry, research and entrepreneurial activities.
If you are a person with a disability (e.g., long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments), such as those related to obtaining special items or services (e.g., third-party assistance, adaptation of the work environment, additional travel/transportation costs), then you must provide the Coordinating Institution with full details of the type of items/services and their cost within two weeks of your arrival for the first semester. Payment for these items/services will be made on October 1 during the remaining 22 months of EMJM by the Coordinating Foundation or for the number of months the items or services are used or produced to support your disability. For one-time costs, items/services will be paid within 1 month of purchase. The maximum amount of expenses available for a student with a disability is 60,000.
