EMJM ACES-STAR Master’s Programme: Shaping the Next Generation of Aquaculture Professionals
PRAXI Network, as one of the leading innovation support organizations at the European level, supports the University of Crete in the implementation of the ACES – STAR Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society (EMJM ACES-STAR).
The EMJM ACES-STAR is a two-year Master’s programme delivered across three European universities specializing in aquaculture research. Through this programme, participants acquire the practical and theoretical skills required for a successful career in the aquaculture sector.

The EMJM ACES-STAR offers a unique learning experience, as it is delivered across three leading European universities specializing in aquaculture research and practice. Specifically:
- University of the Highlands and Islands, Scotland
- University of Crete, Greece
- University of Nantes, France

Over the past 10 years, programme participants have had the opportunity to attend lectures and seminars delivered by distinguished scientists and renowned industry professionals, further enhancing their academic knowledge and professional development.

Career Prospects
At the same time, the programme’s strong links with the aquaculture industry and related sectors have created outstanding professional networking opportunities. The programme’s success is clearly reflected in the career paths of its graduates.
To date, the data show that:
- Approximately 50% of graduates continue to PhD studies at leading universities in the United Kingdom, Europe, South America, and Australia.
- The remaining approximately 50% pursue careers in the aquaculture industry or related sectors, including environmental organizations, regulatory authorities, and NGOs.
- Many graduates have published research articles in prestigious scientific journals, strengthening their academic and professional profiles.

Would You Like to Join the EMJM ACES-STAR Programme?
The ACES-STAR programme accepts applications from candidates who are able to cover the programme’s tuition fees and associated expenses themselves.
The EMJM ACES-STAR tuition fees for 2025 are:
- International students – €5,000 per academic year
- UK/EU students – €2,500 per academic year
If you are a person with a disability (e.g. long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments) requiring specific items or services (such as personal assistance, workplace adaptations, or additional travel and transportation costs), you must provide the Coordinating Institution with full details of the required items/services and their associated costs within two weeks of your arrival for the first semester.
Payment for these items and services will be made by the Coordinating Institution from 1 October for the remaining 22 months of the EMJM programme, or for the number of months during which the items or services are required to support your disability. One-off costs will be reimbursed within one month of purchase. The maximum amount of financial support available for a student with a disability is €60,000.
