Visit of the ERC President, Maria Leptin, to Athens.
The European Research Council (ERC), the Academy of Athens and the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA), with the support of PRAXI Network, National Contact Point for the Horizon Europe programme, are organising a special event on the occasion of the visit of Professor Maria Leptin, President of the ERC, to Athens on Tuesday, 20 October 2026.
The event will take place at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (4 Soranou Efesiou St, 115 27 Athens). It is aimed at the Greek research and academic community, and especially at researchers interested in ERC funding opportunities. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about:
- The progress of Greek participation in the ERC
- The upcoming changes to the 2027 calls
- The support services provided to applicants by the National Contact Points
In addition, distinguished researchers who have received ERC funding will share their experience and highlight the impact of ERC funding on their scientific careers. The event will conclude with a discussion on specific actions that can help further strengthen Greece’s participation and success in the ERC.
The event will be moderated by Dr. Themis Alissafi, ERC Ambassador, Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) Medical School and researcher at BRFAA.
